This project has been my dream since Oak Park’s Centennial in 2002. I am a graphic designer living in Oak Park, IL for over 30 years and every day I am in awe of its beauty. The importance and history contained in the architecture of Oak Park’s Frank Lloyd Wright Historic District is internationally known and respected. My vision was to photograph every block in the FLWHD, house by house and then combine them, block by block, in a seamless montage with every home facing the viewer (photoramas). All photos (over 5,000) were taken between Feb and April of 2012.
Homes are identified by original owner, architect and date it was built, where this information is available. When completed this will be a valuable historic documentation of what this district looked like in 2012. In addition I have created Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard, which is a photorama of every Frank Lloyd Wright structure in Oak Park, IL, designed as if they were all on one block. This photorama also includes the name of the original owner, year it was built and the addresses of these historic homes. Note: I will be adding blocks to the website as I complete them but if you have a request for a block you don't see here, please let me know and I will work on it first. All photoramas are identified with the date the photos were taken and printed at 300dpi on high quality photo stock.
In 2019 I donated 93 block Photorama prints to the Oak Park River Forest History Museum.
Thank you so much for your support which is enabling me to continue the project.
